Joe started training at age 12, initially in boxing and kickboxing.
In 2017 he made the decision to start training in MMA with the intention of competing. From then he went on to train at several gyms and competing in kickboxing, Thai boxing and boxing.
Away from martial arts, Joe has a wealth of experience in teaching children as a swimming instructor.
It was Joe’s work experience, calm nature, skill level, professionalism, attention to detail and his approachable, fun and likeable nature that meant he was the perfect person to teach our Youth Academy, as well as using the same attributes to excel in his own training and fight career.
Over the years, Neil has competed under Muay Thai rules, kickboxing rules, amateur boxing, MMA, and freestyle wrestling.
He has also spent many months training in Muay Thai with top-level Thai trainers.
As well as Neil’s striking pedigree as a coach and competitor, he is also a very experienced grappling practitioner of over 22 years, and is currently a Brown Belt in BJJ.
In any of Neil’s classes you’ll find a very technical, calm and welcoming coach who is always willing to go the extra mile to help anyone.

Prior to becoming a coach he was a member of Iran’s Under 23s National Wrestling Team for two years.
In 2017 he won the British Wrestling Championship.
He has lots of experience of training school children in England in the art of wrestling.
Omid is an excellent addition to our coaching team and his passion and excellence in coaching is evident as soon as he steps on the mats.
Lloyd Clarkson is our MMA Coach.
He fought 18 times in mixed martial arts as a professional and was known for ‘being willing to step into the cage at any time to face anyone’.
Lloyd loves to share that experience as a professional MMA fighter with his students these days in a professional, humorous and fun manner in order to help them to develop their own skills and enjoyment of the sport.
At Hybrid we’re fortunate to have such a wealth of high level coaches, all with the same professional attitude and welcoming demeanour, all being perfectly coherent with the gym’s reputation as a professional and welcoming place to learn at.
